Blackbutt Entrance Table
$1,450.00

Handcrafted in Canberra from a single piece of salvaged, naturally fallen Australian Blackbutt. This entrance table is designed to serve as a grounding centrepiece for your entryway, a daily reminder of honest craftsmanship and natural character.

The wild, sweeping live edge of the timber is left completely honest, showcasing the raw history, knots, and unique grain patterns of the tree. To contrast the rugged texture of the timber, the slab is set on clean, matte black geometric steel legs, offering a striking balance between natural warmth and modern structural design.

As a signature mark of its craftsmanship, a custom Burl & Griffin makers medallion is seamlessly set directly into the timber. It stands as a physical promise of the piece's authenticity, its local Canberra heritage, and the deeper purpose behind its creation.

This is a completely unique, one-of-one build. Once it is sold, it cannot be replicated.

Meet the Maker

I’m Josh, and Burl & Griffin is where I bring raw timber and real purpose together. When I’m not on shift as a firefighter, I’m in the workshop building bespoke furniture from live-edge slabs and high-end brass features, crafting individual pieces where natural defects are embraced as focal points of character and resilience.

The heart of this business goes much deeper than just wood. When I was 19, my dad took his own life, and it’s the reason why supporting men’s mental health is at the core of everything I create here in Canberra.

To me, woodworking is about honest, hands-on work that sparks real conversations and builds a genuine community to look out for one another. You can see the full story behind the workshop here.
